I am drawn to historic printing processes for some of the same reasons that attracted the Pictoralists and Modernists photographers in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries -- their rich and subtle tonal values but also the "artistic gesture" possible with hand-made printing. And there is also the simple pleasure I find in the process itself, not only mixing chemicals, coating paper, exposing, and washing, but the combination of technique and chance that makes the resulting image surprising and unique.  These are a few of my experiments with Platinum/Palladium, Cyanotype, Ziatype, and Gum Bichromate, as well as Ziatype over digital pigment ink and over Gum Bichromate.
